Helmut Newton's Heel - Framed Vintage Postcard

$76.00

Photographer Helmut Newton released the shutter button for nearly sixty years and changed the landscape of this medium of art. The Helmut Newton Foundation describes his œuvre:

“It was in the 1960s that Newton found his inimitable style in Paris, as seen in his photographs of the revolutionary fashion designed by André Courrèges. Working for well-known fashion magazines, Newton not only took classic studio shots but also ventured into the streets, where he staged models as participants in a protest, protagonists in a paparazzi story, and more. His clients’ sometimes stringent requirements and narrow expectations were an incentive for him to challenge traditional modes of representation.”

This vintage French postcard illustrates Helmut Newton’s photograph, Shoe, captured in 1983. You can feel the woman commanding power as her foot digs into the sole of the high-heel, distorting her ankle.

Custom varnished walnut frame made in France set with a double, finely-textured, acid-free matting and anti-reflection plexiglass.

Frame dimensions: 8.5 × 7 × 0.5 inches

Shipped directly from my home in the Basque Country in southwestern France.
